Welcome, Wild Women

Wild Women photography sessions are sacred, authentic & unique to you.

Thank you for scheduling your Wild Women photography session. This guide will help you learn more about the experience, as you prepare for your evening of self discovery, expression & wild love. Welcome, let’s begin.

Grounding

In the first moments of your Wild Women session, it is very common to wonder: What will this be like? How will I feel comfortable enough to express myself in front of the camera? Can I ever express myself the way other women do? Each Wild Women session unfolds in its own way, purely because you are you, and the most wild & gorgeous photographs of you will be your own unique and authentic expression. So, how do we get to your radiant expression? This is a beautiful dance between Wild Woman & Wild Woman photographer.

We begin with a grounding meditation, a moment of stillness and imagery guided by your photographer, Sabrina Norrie. This time is not about being photographed, yet. Together we will breathe into this moment to ground our energy, connect to the nature around us and visualize the feeling and inspiration you want to weave into your session.

Take a look at the image above, which was taken at the beginning of a Wild Women session. Can you see how she is still getting comfortable? This is an important first step.

I create an environment to help you feel relaxed & reflective. I understand this takes time.

Exploration

So how did this woman go from grounding in stillness to the embodied expression, which she is fully in the midst of in the above photographs? This process is unique for each woman. But as highly personal as this journey is, the flow from grounding to embodiment is largely through exploration.

01. Sacred Items. What did you bring with you to weave into your session? Instruments. Altar elements. Candles. Sage. Crystals. Ancestral pieces. Books. Jewelry. Headdresses. Flowers. Singing bowls. Art. Creations. Photographs. Clothing. If you choose to bring sacred items with you, we will begin here as you walk us through their meaning.

02. Natural Elements. Which part or parts of nature call to you? The earth. The plants. The life. The water. The air. The space. The fire. You take the lead on where you feel drawn, how you choose to approach and engage with the wild space we wander.

03. Your Stories. What stories tell part of you? Through prompts you are invited to share stories of your past, your present, your ancestry, your inspiration, your expansiveness. These are your stories to tell, but as much as the items you carry and the elements you explore, these stories are exploration of emotion, expression and you. Some women even choose to engage in a ceremony around a story they wish to explore.

04. You. What parts of you feel they are coming alive? Parts of yourself that remind you of your inner child. Parts of yourself that showcase your creative mother. Parts of yourself that call forth your wise elder. You may feel emotions ranging from playful to reverent, perhaps a release of pent up anger or suppressed authenticity, perhaps a connection to an ancestor that highlights parts of yourself or a deep, knowingness come alive. All emotions are welcome and celebrated, no matter how somber or joyful.

I invite you to co-create the exploration of your session. This is the powerful journey to your unique release.

Expression

Through grounding and exploration comes an expression of embodied release. This is uniquely you and you alone, in this moment in time. No matter how many times I photograph Wild Women sessions, even at the same location, no two are remotely alike. How incredible! Your expression, the elements you have woven in from the physical and the emotional and the spiritual world around you. From what your eyes and your face and your body shows. From what you wear and what you carry or what you do not. From where you are called. From all you’ve brought forth and laid bare to be seen or heard or felt. It is you that makes these moments come alive, and the life you bring to it is gorgeous magic.

I celebrate your expression, weaving in artistic invitations from all you’ve given voice and life to.

You are already living into your exploration & expression.

What you can begin focusing on now…

There are certain elements and considerations you can begin to breathe life into now, before our session even begins, if you choose. This helps to shape how you step into your session, and potentially the session itself. Though, it is possible you find you are called to an entirely different path when you are in the moment of the session. So please hold lightly to all the ideas that arise beforehand. And please allow this planning process itself to feel as light as you’d like.

01. Sacred Items | What items will you bring with you to your session? I invite you to bring items of great meaning that tell a story of you. If you have an idea, bring it along. Food, instruments, altar items, natural elements, speakers to play music, art & creations. Nothing is too big or small. You can also choose to only bring you and that is equally as wonderful.

02. Your Clothing | What clothing & accessories will you wear? You can bring multiple outfit choices. You may choose to show some skin or at any time be fully or partially naked. This choice is yours alone. I step into each session honoring your choices and celebrating your beauty.

03. Your Ceremony | Do you have a ceremony or ritual in mind that you would like to work into your session? If there is even an ember of an idea, please feel free to share this with Sabrina to collectively dream up the ways in which you can bring this to life.

04. Your Elements | What elements in nature speak to your soul? Do you feel a connection to the fire, air, earth, space or water element or any combination? Feel free to dream on the ways you want to explore these elements in your session.

05. Your Ancestry | I invite you to devote time to your ancestors. Consider cooking a traditional family meal. Consider inquiring about ancestral stories. Consider meditating on the lives they lived and the energy they have passed forth through you.

06. Your Story | I invite you to devote time to your story. Consider your journey to here & likewise to the wise elder within you of all that is to come. What story have you been weaving throughout your existence? What is this existence? If you have practices that help you step into a most embodied space, such as meditation or ecstatic dancing, I invite you to spend time there leading up to your session, and if desired even weave it into your session.

You are wild beauty already. It is in your bones. Let us shake them & release together.
